Privacy Policy

Only anonymous usage statistics, so we can see which features are used and where the app can be better. For example, that a guitar was added, a sound clip recorded or a PDF exported, with rough counts such as “2–5 photos”. Ax Collector sends them through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service.

Along with each statistic, TelemetryDeck receives basic technical details (app version, iOS version, device model, language and region) and an identifier that is scrambled (hashed) on your device, so it can count devices without knowing whose they are.

We use these statistics only to understand and improve Ax Collector. They are not linked to you, not used for advertising, not used to track you across other apps or websites, and never sold.

Your guitars’ details, serial numbers, locations or notes; your photos or recordings; their names; your name, email address, contacts or precise location; or anything else that identifies you. Ax Collector has no accounts and no sign-in.

The guitars you catalog, their details and notes, the photos you add and the sounds you record are saved in the app’s storage on your device. If you back up your device with iCloud Backup or to a computer, that backup includes your collection; it is handled by Apple or your computer under your own settings, and we have no access to it.

When you’re signed in to iCloud, Ax Collector keeps your collection the same on your devices by storing a copy in the private database of your own iCloud account, using Apple’s CloudKit. Only you can read it: we have no access to it, and the details of each guitar are stored encrypted. It counts toward your iCloud storage and is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

You can turn sync off in Ax Collector’s Settings. Your collection stays on your device either way.

• Camera is used only when you choose to photograph a guitar.
• Microphone is used only while you record a sound clip.
• Photo library: you pick the photos to add, and the app saves photos to your library only when you ask it to.

Photos and recordings stay in your collection; they are never sent to us. You can change these permissions at any time in the Settings app.

Ax Collector shares something only when you choose to. When you export or share a guitar, a PDF, photos or sound clips, the app hands them to the iOS share sheet and you decide where they go. What happens next is governed by the app or service you pick.

From time to time Ax Collector may ask whether you’d like to rate it, using Apple’s standard App Store prompt. Apple handles the prompt and any rating you give; we see only the ratings and reviews that the App Store shows publicly.

• TelemetryDeck receives the anonymous usage statistics described above and processes them for us under its privacy policy, which protects them at least as well as this one.
• Apple provides iCloud, CloudKit and the App Store under its own privacy policy.

We don’t share information with anyone else.

• Your collection is kept until you delete it. Deleting a guitar removes it, and deleting the app removes everything it stored on that device.
• To remove the iCloud copy, open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, and delete Ax Collector’s data.
• Usage statistics are kept only as long as they help us improve the app. Because they aren’t linked to you, we can’t pick out yours, but you can email us with any question or request about them.

Ax Collector 2.x used a different analytics service. Version 3.0 removes it and replaces it with the anonymous statistics described above. When you upgrade, your 2.x collection is imported on your device and the original files are kept there as a backup until you choose to delete them in Settings.

Ax Collector collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. If a change affects how the app handles your information, we will describe it in the app’s release notes.
